Welcome to Day 7 of my Christmas Cookie Countdown. I’ll be posting a different Christmas Cookie recipe every day from now until Christmas. If you miss any days, just look for the posts labeled Christmas Cookie Countdown. Today’s cookie is Sugar Cookies. These are the classic cookie to cut into fun shapes and decorate with icing, sprinkles, or whatever you choose.
3/4 cup butter
2 cups flour
3/4 cup sugar
1 Tbsp milk
1 tsp baking powder
1 tsp vanilla
desired toppings (sugar, non-pareils, etc)
Beat butter until softened. Add about half the flour. Add next 6. Beat until combined. Stir in remaining flour. Divide dough in half. cover and chill about 3 hours. Roll each half of dough on a lightly floured surface to 1/8” thickness. Cut dough into desired shapes. Place 1” apart on an ungreased cookie sheet. Sprinkle with desired toppings. Bake at 375 for 7-8 minutes. Cool on a cookie sheet a minute then remove to rack to finish cooling.
