Book Review: Pathport Through Darkness by Kimberly L. Smith

Passport Through Darkness
A True Story of Danger and Second Chances
by Kimberly L. Smith
I think this may be one of the more challenging reviews I’ve done so far, because  there is so much to say about this book and yet words don’t suffice. It is an amazing story of a woman’s search for God’s calling in her life and the dark and dangerous world that leads her to. This is not an easy book to read. If you are in the least bit tender-hearted, the stories of what some of the women and children she encounters will break your heart.  As Christian author Phillip Yancey said,

“Kimberly Smith voluntarily walks through the gates of hell. If you can read her accounts without being affected, you should
check for a pulse.”

In this book you will encounter amazing stories of courage and very real accounts of doubt and discouragement. Kimberly is put into situations that no one from this culture could naturally feel at home in, but Kimberly fights back. This is not a white-washed, “look at the wonderful work we’re doing” sunshine story. It’s raw and real and people die from preventable diseases and the horrors of war and man’s inhumanity to man. If you are ready to move beyond the sound bites on the 6 o’clock news and find out what’s really happening in the darkest corners of the planet, if you are ready to ask yourself the hard questions, if you are ready to be moved and your heart laid open, read this book!

Below are the standard publishing book trailer followed by a much more informative interview.
